Cold front could bring KC’s first frost of the season. When will summer-like temps end?
It will be a great night for baseball in Kansas City on Wednesday — at least weather-wise.
Typically, Kansas City sees temperatures reach 70 degrees this time of year.
“We`ll likely be 10-15 degrees above that today and potentially 15-20 degrees above normal later this week,” the National Weather Service said in its forecast discussion.
Afternoon temperatures are expected to be around 83 degrees in the metro.
Temperatures aren’t expected to dip much by the time of the first pitch of Game 3 of the American League Division Series between the Kansas City Royals and the New York Yankees.
When the game starts at 6:08 p.m., temperatures are forecast to be around 79 degrees. Southeast winds are expected to be light, between three and six mph.
Above-normal temperatures are expected through the end of the week, with Friday and Saturday being the warmest, reaching the mid- to upper 80s.
Dry conditions are expected to persist through at least the next seven days.
First frost in Kansas City weather forecast?
Kansas City’s stretch of summer-like temperatures will end this weekend as a cold front moves through late Saturday, followed by a stronger front on Sunday.
Temperatures are expected to tumble below normal, reaching only the upper 60s on Sunday and upper 50s on Monday and Tuesday.
“There is potential for frosty conditions in northern and central portions of the region Monday night into Tuesday morning,” the weather service said. “Freezing conditions are also expected Tuesday night into Wednesday.”
Some areas in far northwest Missouri could see their first hard freeze, with temperatures dropping below 28 degrees.
According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, Kansas City typically sees its first frost of the season on Oct. 29.
