Cool temperatures and pumpkin spice everything. Is it already fall in Kansas City?
The weather this weekend might have people in Kansas City double-checking their calendars. Cooler temperatures will give the metro a taste of fall, complementing those pumpkin spice items already in stores.
“A pleasant weekend is in store as quiet weather graces the area,” the National Weather Service in Kansas City said on X, formerly Twitter. “Below-normal temperatures for today (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday), with slightly warmer conditions beginning on Sunday.
The weather service said temperatures will be in the mid-70s on Friday, falling into the low 50s overnight. It will be even cooler on Saturday, with temperatures in the low 70s and dropping to near 50 degrees overnight.
Temperatures in Kansas City are usually around 83 degrees this time of year. The metro also doesn’t typically see temperatures drop into the mid-70s until late September or early October.
People will want to get out and enjoy the pleasant weather.
When will warmer temperatures return?
The cool spell won’t be around long as a gradual warm-up will return to the metro, the weather service said.
Temperatures will be in the upper 70s on Sunday, returning closer to seasonal averages for much of next week.
According to the weather service, the weather will also be mostly dry over the weekend and through the work week. The next chance for rain might hold off until next weekend.
