Dry, pleasant weather expected in Kansas City; showers, thunderstorms looming in forecast
Pleasant and dry weather conditions are expected in the Kansas City area Thursday as temperatures will be slightly cooler than normal, according to the National Weather Service.
Skies are expected to be partly sunny for most of the day with temperatures likely to reach only into the low 80s. Typically this time of year, temperatures are in the uppers 80s.
There is a chance for isolated thunderstorms Thursday night into Friday morning across eastern Kansas, although the rain is more likely to push south of the Kansas City area, according to the weather service.
More widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected Friday, with some isolated thunderstorms possible. Some of the storms may be strong to severe in the afternoon and evening, according to the weather service.
Some of the stronger storms could produce strong winds, heavy rain and hail. Some thunderstorms may linger into Saturday morning across southern parts of the region.
Cooler weather is expected to continue into the weekend, with temperatures climbing into the low 80s on Saturday and Sunday. There is another chance for rain showers on Sunday, the weather service said on Twitter.
