Showers, thunderstorms expected in Kansas City area; Here’s timing of the rain
Showers and thunderstorms are expected to start popping up across the Kansas City area Wednesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
While not everyone will see the rain, the ones who do could experience brief downpours, the weather service said. A few of the storms that do develop could be strong to severe.
The storms are expected to start bubbling up across northeast and central Missouri Wednesday afternoon and slowly start spreading into western Missouri and far eastern Kansas by Wednesday evening.
Areas north of Kansas City could see storms between 3 and 6 p.m. As the storms move from north to south, they are expected to reach the Kansas City area between 5 and 7 p.m., according to the weather service.
The scattered showers are expected to linger into the late evening.
In addition the likelihood of brief downpours, strong winds and large hail will be possible. No tornadoes are expected.
Skies are then expected to clear, giving way to partly cloudy skies. Friday will be mostly sunny. The chance for widespread showers and thunderstorms are likely Saturday into Sunday morning.
