Soak in the unseasonably warm weather Kansas City because temperatures will tumble 40 to 45 degrees later this week — and the winter-like cold will stick around, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures will be near 60 degrees Monday and warm into the 70s by Wednesday and Thursday. Overnight conditions will be in the low 40s Monday to mid-60s by Thursday, according to the weather service.

That’s on the warm side for Kansas City, which typically sees temperatures reach the upper 50s this time of year, with conditions overnight in the upper 30s.

The unseasonably warm weather, combined with low humidity and gusty winds, has created an elevated fire weather risk for the metro area Monday afternoon, according to the weather service.

Although there’s a possibility for rain on Tuesday, the better chance showers arrives Thursday as a cold front plows through the area, the weather service said.

Much colder weather will move in behind the cold front with Friday being 40 to 45 degrees colder than Thursday.

Beginning Saturday, weather conditions will be in the 30s and 40s during the day and the teens and 20s at night, according to the weather service. The winter-like temperatures will stick around through most of next week.
