Thunderstorm, flood warnings put in place across the Kansas City metro area Monday

Kansas City’s National Weather Service put several thunderstorm and flood warnings in place across the region Monday evening.

The National Weather Service in Kansas City announced a flash flood warning in Spring Hills and Edgerton, Kansas and Peculiar, Missouri until 6:45 p.m. The weather service encouraged people to move to higher ground and avoid walking or driving through flood waters.

A severe thunderstorm warning was put in place in Effingham, Lancaster and Muscotah in Kansas until 6 p.m. The areas could see up to 60 mph winds and hail up to the size of a quarter, according to the National Weather Service Kansas City Twitter.

Another severe thunderstorm warning was put in place in Stewartsville, Clarksdale and Easton in Missouri until 5:45 p.m. The areas could see wind speeds up to 60 mph and hail up to the size of a half dollar.
