Up to an inch of rain, maybe some snowflakes, possible as storm dawdles over Kansas City
It will continue to be a gray Friday in Kansas City metro after a cold front moved through the area, bringing much cooler temperature and periods of rain.
By noon on Friday, just over half an inch of rain had fallen at Kansas City International Airport, where temperatures had fallen to 40 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
Periods of rain were expected to continue throughout the day and into the evening with Kansas City receiving up to an inch by the time it stops falling. There’s a chance some snowflakes could mix in with the rain overnight.
The better chance for snow was in far northeast Kansas and northwest Missouri, where temperatures were cooler. Only minor accumulations are expected, mainly on elevated and grassy surfaces, the weather service said.
Weather conditions are expected to rebound for the weekend, with sunny skies and temperatures expected on Saturday and mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the lower 70s on Sunday.
