Winter storm heads to Kansas City, but today, the Chiefs will play under sunny skies
The sun will shine down on Chiefs Kingdom Sunday as the Kansas City Chiefs face the Cincinnati Bengals mid-day at Arrowhead Stadium.
By 2:05 p.m. kickoff of the AFC Championship Game, the weather across the metro, which was brisk to start the day, will have warmed into the low 40s, with a slight wind of about 5 miles an hour, according to the National Weather Service.
The temperature will climb slightly from there, reaching a high of about 45 degrees by mid-afternoon, as the Chiefs and Bengals battle it out for a trip to the Super Bowl.
But the fair weather will only last for so long. Monday and Tuesday will see highs in the upper 50s before the temperature drops dramatically as a winter storm sweeps in, according to the weather service.
Tuesday night’s rain is predicted to turn to a wintry mix and snow before midnight that’s set to continue through the next morning.
If lucky, temperatures Wednesday and Thursday might break beyond the teens. The following weekend is expected to again warm up, but not much.
