No rain in the forecast, but ‘delightful’ early fall weather headed to Kansas City
No rain is in the forecast in Kansas City for about the next week, FOX4 meteorologist Joe Lauria said, as the weather starts to transition to early fall.
Smoke from fires to the west has also affected area temperatures, said Lauria, who provides weather updates to The Star.
“I think that smoke will impact temperatures again for tomorrow,” Lauria said.
According to the National Weather Service, the haze seen Tuesday evening is from Utah wildfires. However, the impact on air quality — because the smoke is so high — is limited to highly sensitive respiratory groups.
High temperatures on Wednesday should be in the lower 80s.
Hurricane Sally will come ashore Wednesday, bringing between 15 to 25 inches of rain for parts of the southeast, Lauria said.
“This is going to be a hot mess in terms of flooding,” Lauria said.
Yet, he added, in Kansas City, “We can’t buy any rain.” That’s for at least the next five to seven days.
Wednesday morning temperatures should be around 60 degrees and warm up to about 83 in the afternoon.
“Overall, delightful, late summer, early fall weather heading our way through the weekend,” Lauria said.
