Wildfire smoke could linger over Kansas City this week while temps stay ‘really nice’

Besides some hovering smoke from the wildfires out west, the forecast for the next week in Kansas City will be practically perfect, said FOX4 meteorologist Joe Lauria.

“About the only weird part about our weather for the next couple of days, the amount of smoke that’s in the air from those fires out across the western part of the country,” said Lauria, who provides weather updates to The Star. “And we’re not alone. Most of the country now has smoke in its air because of the immense fires going on out west.”

But he said the smoke won’t affect the temperatures in Kansas City on Tuesday. The day will likely be a little warmer than Monday, with highs in the low 80s.

The weather will be dry and warm through at least the end of the week in Kansas City, said FOX4 meteorologist Joe Lauria.

“Good day, comfortable humidity, light winds expected,” Lauria said. “Overall it’s really, pretty good for this time of year. Later summer, early fall, very nice time here in Kansas City.”

Temperatures will drop slightly as a cold front comes through the area Thursday, bringing with it high temperatures in the mid-to-high 70s through the rest of the week.

“Really nice, nice days coming toward Kansas City,” Lauria said. “Get out, enjoy it.”

Rain is absent from the forecast for at least the next week. This dry weather will likely continue into next week as temperatures are expected to warm up slightly.
