KC weather: Fog rolls in Wednesday before the heat takes over through the weekend
Be prepared for a foggy start to Wednesday, said FOX4 meteorologist Joe Lauria.
While it may not be overly dense, some dense fog patches will be in the area, said Lauria, who provides weather updates to The Star.
By 5 a.m., Lauria said, visibility could be below 3/4 of a mile. By 6 a.m., people should watch for dense fog, especially in low lying areas, Lauria said. In some areas, the visibility could dip below 1/4 of a mile.
“Then as we go through rush hour,” Lauria said, “the visibility will gradually start to improve, especially after about 9 o’clock or so.”
Low clouds could hang around in areas south and east of Kansas City. When the sun comes out, temperatures could warm up to around 85 degrees.
“And then we warm up even more as we head toward the holiday weekend,” Lauria said.
On Thursday, temperature highs could reach 86 degrees. On Friday, temperatures could reach 81 and it should climb to around 87 on Saturday and 89 Sunday.
But the heat won’t last for long, thanks to cooler air moving in from the north.
Lauria said two models paint a varied picture for Labor Day: Temperatures could reach near 90 degrees or only reach around 70.
Labor Day and next Tuesday, Lauria said, will transition the area into cooler temperatures.
According to the National Weather Service, “much cooler than normal temperatures are on the horizon.”
