High heat index in Kansas City to end work week; cooler weather expected for weekend
It’ll be a hot but quiet end to the work week in Kansas City, as the heat index for the next couple days will be around 100 degrees, according to FOX4 meteorologist Karli Ritter.
“Highs are going to be in the lower 90s,” said Ritter, who provides weather updates to The Star. “The heat index, though, will be noticeably higher as our heat index stays well above our air temperature for today and tomorrow.”
There is a break coming for the weekend as a front arrives bringing much cooler conditions to the metro and a slim chance of rain for some. The forecast is calling for highs this weekend in the mid-80s.
The remnants of Hurricane Laura will bring some extra clouds to the Kansas City area Thursday, Ritter said.
The National Weather Service in Kansas City said that the remnants of Hurricane Laura should have a minimal impact on the Kansas City area. The better chance for rain will be father south in southern and parts of central Missouri.
Rain and thunderstorms are expected for the start of next week, Ritter said.
