Rain showers, thunderstorms return to end work week in Kansas City metro area
It’ll be another hot summer day in Kansas City as the heat index is expected to soar into the low to mid-90s, said FOX4 meteorologist Karli Ritter.
“We are going to be talking about talking about temperatures warming up into the mid to upper 80s,” said Ritter, who provides weather updates to The Star. “We should have a relatively dry day with very low rain chances in the forecast.”
The heat index will be aconcern as it is expected to soar into the lower to mid-90s, she said. The summer heat will continue Thursday, with the heat index returning back to the low to mid-90s.
“As we go through the next couple of days, our rain chances will start to go back up, especially as we head into Thursday and Friday,” Ritter said. “It’s not going to be a total washout.”
The rain will bring afternoon highs down a bit to the mid-80s.
Over the weekend, highs will climb to near 90 degrees on Saturday and upper 80s on Sunday. A cold front, however, is expected move into the area late Sunday, which could spark a few storms, she said.
“A very refreshing, more fall like feel to the air arrives on Monday,” Ritter said.
