Fall-like weather settles into Kansas City, but reality of summer to return soon
Enjoy the low humidity and temperatures in the Kansas City area to start the work week because the reality that it’s still summer in the metro will return by the weekend, said FOX4 meteorologist Karli Ritter.
“Later on today it’s going to feel like fall,” said Ritter, who provides weather updates to The Star.
Some may want to grab a jacket before they head out for the morning the next couple of days.
“We’re going to have low humidity,” Ritter said. “We’re going to have very comfortable conditions with a little bit of a breeze and lots of sunshine.”
With a high UV Index, people will want to wear sunscreen to protect themselves against sun damage despite it feeling pretty cool outside, she said.
“The low humidity is going to stick around today, tomorrow, even Wednesday is still going to feel really nice,” Ritter said. “But then by Thursday, we’ll start to get a little dose of reality that we’re still in the summer months and that will coincide with some warmer weather as well heading into our upcoming weekend.”
The chance for storms return in time for the weekend, with thunderstorms possible on Friday and rain showers on Saturday and Sunday.
Highs for the week will be in the middle to upper 70s through Wednesday and then middle to upper 80s, and maybe even lower 90s, for the remainder of the week, she said.
Overnight lows will be cool as well, with lows falling the middle to upper 50s on Monday and Tuesday, 60s on Wednesday and Thursday and 70s by the weekend.
The average high for this time of year in Kansas City is 89 degrees with overnight lows falling to 68 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Kansas City.
With overnight lows dropping to the middle 50s, there’s a chance of the metro setting a record low for this time of year the next couple of days.
