Flash flood warnings extend through Missouri Thursday night
More flood warnings have been issued throughout parts of the Kansas City metro area for Thursday evening.
The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for the cities of Stanberry, Albany and Maysville in Missouri until 11:30 p.m. Thursday. Another flash flood warning was issued for Odessa, Higginsville and Lexington in Missouri until 11:15 p.m., and the National Weather Service announced a warning for areas including Sedalia, Warrensburg and Windsor in Missouri until 11:30 p.m.
Additional flash flood warnings were announced for the cities of Saint Joseph and Savannah in Missouri and Atchison in Kansas until 10 p.m. The Kansas side of the Kansas City metro area, including Overland Park, Olathe and Kansas City, Kansas, was placed under a flood warning until 8:30 p.m. Jackson and Ottawa counties are also under flash flood watches until 1 a.m. Friday, according to FOX4, which provides weather updates for The Star.
The Kansas City metro area remains under a hazardous weather outlook, according to the National Weather Service, and the Missouri River at Napoleon in Jackson County is under a flood warning.
In Kansas, the cities of Paola, Osawatomie and Louisburg are under flood warnings until 7 p.m. Thursday, according to the weather service.
