Rain, thunderstorms likely mid-week in Kansas City metro
Showers and thunderstorms return to the Kansas City area mid-week, but they clear out in time for the weekend, according to FOX4 meteorologist Michelle Bogowith.
“After a little patchy dense fog early this morning, that will be lifting, burning off, leaving us with a mix of clouds and sunshine for your Tuesday afternoon,” said Bogowith, who provides weather updates to The Star.
Afternoon highs will warm into the middle and upper 80s. Although a few pockets of rain may pop up southwest of the Kansas City area Tuesday night. Most of the activity in the metro, however, will hold off until Wednesday, she said.
“And Wednesday around lunch and points thereafter, you can see showers and thunderstorms starting to fire up and continue right on into the evening commute on Wednesday right along the I-70 corridor,” Bogowith said. “That seems to be the location of some of the heavier downpours of rain.”
Rain showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue into Thursday morning carrying over into the afternoon and evening, she said. The storm activity is expected to show up on Friday as well.
“But we will clear out just in time for the upcoming weekend,” Bogowith said. “Temperatures will remain well below average though in the low to middle 80s.”

MOREHow we did this story
The Star produced this weather update in partnership with the local FOX4 television station. The station’s meteorologists create forecast videos multiple times a day for the newspaper to include in its weather reports.
The average temperature for time of year in Kansas City is 89 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Kansas City.
The mid-week storms could bring some heavier rains that produce some flooding concerns. Severe storms, however, are not expected, the weather service said.
