Kansas City can expect another hot, humid day Tuesday as heat index soars into 90s
It will be another hot and humid day in the Kansas City area as the heat index is expected to soar into the 90s Tuesday afternoon, FOX4 meteorologist Karli Ritter said.
“Later on today we are going to be flirting with 90 degrees again,” said Ritter, who provides weather updates to The Star.
“You’ll definitely need the sunscreen if you’re outside today,” she said. “As we go through the next 24 hours, we’ll stay dry with all of the rain staying east of town.”
A heat advisory goes into effect just south and west of the Kansas City area at noon, Ritter said on Twitter.
“Plan for highs around 90 degrees with the heat index in the lower 90s,” she said. “It will be even hotter southwest of Kansas City. Stay hydrated & plan for a hot, mainly dry stretch for the next seven days.”
There is a slight chance for rain Wednesday as a little ribbon of isolated storms and showers pass through the area.
“Not everybody will see it, but we did through a rain chance in for Wednesday,” Ritter said. “We’ll have to watch for overnight Wednesday into Thursday for perhaps another passing rain shower or two.”
The overall trend, however, is hot, humid and mainly dry weather.
“We don’t have much to talk about rain-wise or weather-wise all the way through our upcoming holiday weekend,” Ritter said.
