Sun to follow morning storms Sunday in Kansas City as heat index nears 100 degrees
Aside from the chance for a couple of scattered thunderstorms, the week will start off hot and sunny in the Kansas City metro and stay that way through Independence Day.
Sunday is expected to be sunny and humid following a round of morning thunderstorms that should clear out of the metro by 9 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.
The high Sunday will near 93 degrees with a heat index near 100, according to the weather service. Wind gusts could be up to 23 miles an hour.
The low Sunday night will drop down to 77.
Monday will be mostly cloudy with a high around 90.
There’s a slight chance of thunderstorms overnight Monday going into Tuesday as the daytime high again lingers around 90 degrees, according to the weather service.
Wednesday will be another hot, sunny day, with more rain possible Thursday.
The forecast for Friday and Saturday, which is Independence Day, currently looks hot, in the low 90s, sunny and clear.
