Severe thunderstorms possible as hot, humid weather builds into the Kansas City area

The summer heat and humidity has arrived in Kansas City and the comfort level will only get worse as the week progresses, said FOX4 meteorologist Karli Ritter.

“It’s going to be another hot an humid day,” said Ritter, who provides weather updates to The Star. “We’re going to see our temperatures climb up into the upper 80s.”

It’ll be dry and windy Tuesday. The heat index will likely be in the 90s and it will only get more hot and humid as the week unfolds, she said.

“Severe weather may also arrive toward the middle of the week,” Ritter said. “Tomorrow and Thursday, we have a slight risk for storms in place and the main concern for this will be during the evening and overnight periods.”

The upcoming weekend will be hot, humid and dry, she said.
