‘Not everybody going to see rain’ today, but Thursday will be soggy in Kansas City
Scattered rain is possible for some in the Kansas City area Wednesday, but widespread storms will likely make for a soggy Thursday in the metro, said FOX4 meteorologist Karli Ritter.
“Later on today we are going to see a lot of cloud cover, some patchy mist or drizzle this morning associated with some fog turn into maybe a little bit of sunshine but also the potential for some more rain,” said Ritter, who provides weather updates to The Star.
The rain, however, will be very scattered in nature, as highs climb into the mid- to upper 70s, she said.
“Not everybody is going to see rain today,” Ritter said. “But those that do could get some brief heavy downpours.
Overnight, storm chances increase bringing widespread rain to the Kansas City area, she said.
“Thursday looks pretty soggy,” said Ritter, who added that keep highs below the mid-70s in the afternoon.
After the storms move out, the metro will be seeing much drier weather that will last into next week.
“We turn the corner and it gets really nice,” Ritter said. Highs are expected to climb into the 80s this weekend.
The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill said no severe weather is expected in the next five days. River flooding is expected in some areas, including along the Missouri River at St. Joseph, where the river is expected to continue to rise to near 20 feet by Wednesday afternoon. Flood stage is 17 feet.
