Rain, thunderstorms remain in forecast, but drier weather coming for Kansas City
Chances for rain and thunderstorms remain in Kansas City’s forecast this week, but drier weather is coming for the weekend, according to FOX4 meteorologist Karli Ritter.
“Later on today (Tuesday) we should start to see a drier pattern across the board but we’re still going to keep a mention for some rain in and even a few thunderstorms through at least the middle part of the day with more isolated coverage this afternoon and evening,” said Ritter, who provides weather updates to The Star.
With the chances of rain decreasing as the day progresses, afternoon highs are expected to pop up into the mid-70s, she said.
“Looking ahead to the rest of the forecast, we have one more soggy day on Thursday and then we enter a much drier period with nicer conditions, sunshine and temps in the mid- and upper 70s,” Ritter said.

The Star produced this weather update in partnership with the local FOX4 television station. The station’s meteorologists create forecast videos multiple times a day for the newspaper to include in its weather reports.
The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill said scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop late Tuesday morning into the afternoon, especially across far northern Missouri.
The risk of severe weather is greater to the north in Iowa. However, heavy rain is possible in the strongest storms.
