Kansas City forecast: It will be ‘a chilly weekend for this time of year’

The weekend will kick off in the Kansas City area with some cold temperatures in the morning and cloudy skies, according to FOX4 meteorologist Joe Lauria.

The National Weather Service has issued a frost advisory, which will be in effect from 4 to 8 a.m. Saturday. Temperatures are expected to be in the mid 30s in the morning. It may be colder on the Missouri side with temperatures possibly dropping down into the upper 20s.

“You’ll notice clouds first thing tomorrow morning, and those clouds are going to to be with us for a good part of the day,” Lauria said in a weather update to The Star. “So with the clouds in place, only filtered sunshine tomorrow.”

By the afternoon hours, temperatures Saturday are expected to be in the low 60s.

Toward Saturday evening, another surge of chilly weather will start coming toward Kansas City from the north and west, Lauria says, so there may be a few sprinkles or a couple of light showers sometime late Saturday night.

“You’ll notice the winds picking up late tomorrow night into Sunday morning, and from those winds, more cool temperatures, so it’s going to be a chilly weekend for this time of year,” Lauria said.

On Sunday, which is Mother’s Day, temperatures are expected to be near 60.

There is another chance for frost on Monday morning.

Later next week, the warmer temperatures will return and there will be a few chances for rain.
