Frost, cooler weather expected this weekend in Kansas City; Storms return next week
Chilly temperatures might frustrate those who already got a jump start on their spring planting as frost is likely in the Kansas City area this weekend, according to FOX4 meteorologist Alex Countee.
“Moving throughout this (Friday) morning, we are going to see the rainfall move away and by about 8 or 9 o’clock we are doing just fine out there,” said Countee who provides weather updates to The Star.
Although the metro area will see sunny skies throughout the afternoon, temperatures will struggle to get to 60 degrees, Countee said. That’ll be well below the normal high of low 70s for this time of year in Kansas City.
“Everyone is cooling down big time Saturday morning,” Countee said. “We are expecting a frosty start to the weekend with temperatures only in the mid to upper 30s.”
The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill has issued a frost advisory in effect from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m. Saturday for the Kansas City region.
“Frost could kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if left uncover,” the weather service said. People should take steps to protect tender plants from the cold.
