Rain is likely Thursday in the Kansas City area, then cooler weather
Rain and cooler temperatures are expected in the Kansas City area Thursday afternoon, according to FOX4 meteorologist Joe Lauria.
Temperatures may be in the low 60s by lunchtime Thursday, but after that, it’s expected to drop off as rain chances increase.
There could be a few sprinkles before lunchtime, Lauria said in a weather update to The Star, but the best chance for rain will be after 2 p.m. or 3 p.m. Thursday.
“We’ll have rain in the area through tomorrow (Thursday) night. It might lighten up a little bit and then maybe pick up again before midnight,” Lauria said. “Tomorrow is just kind of a dicey afternoon and night around the area.”
The Kansas City area may be dealing with some record-breaking low temperatures later this weekend and early next week. The Saturday morning forecast currently shows a low of 36 degrees, but, Lauria said, “I wouldn’t be surprised if we got colder than that.” The record, which was set in 1980, is 35, he said.
Lauria said Kansas City could also see another record low temperature on Monday morning.
“We’ve got some frost coming up,” Lauria said. “The warmth comes back a week from today, and with it, more rain chances, thunderstorm chances and maybe some severe weather, too, for the back half of the month.”
