Rain expected Sunday and Monday in Kansas City before colder than normal start to May

Rain could move into the Kansas City area Sunday and Monday, bringing with it a cooler couple of weeks.

The rain possibility starts late Saturday evening after temperatures rise into the 80s in the afternoon, said FOX4 meteorologist Garry Frank in a weather update for The Star.

There is a slight chance for rain Saturday evening and a 30% chance of rain Sunday morning, Frank said. The rest of the day Sunday, Frank said, should be pleasant with temperatures peaking in the 70s.

The larger possibility for wet weather, however, comes Monday.

Frank said rain will settle into the Kansas City area in the mid-morning on Monday and won’t clear out until after 3 p.m. With it, Frank said, will be the possibility for strong or severe storms.

Temperatures will then “give us a little bit of a break as we head out into the rest of the week,” Frank said.

Mornings may be cooler as he expects the first couple of weeks of May to be colder than average with high temperatures dropping back into the 60s.
