Parts of the Kansas City metro could see snow early Friday morning, forecast says
Overnight, the Kansas City area will likely see more rain, possibly thunderstorms, ahead of a mix of rain and snow that could fall in part of the region, according to FOX4 meteorologist Joe Lauria.
Temperatures overnight are expected to be in the 30s, dropping to 34 around 6 a.m. Friday.
According to the forecast, the area may see a mix of precipitation during the early-morning hours Friday. The wintry mix could change over to snow, which “may actually coat the ground before we start leaving this system behind,” Lauria said in a weather update to The Star.
“I’m expecting a dusting to maybe an inch of snow in some parts of the metro. One to 3 inches way up to our north, but not that far away, along 36 highway,” Lauria continued. “And once you get up toward far northern Missouri, it’s not out of the question there could be 4 to 6 inches of heavy, wet snow.”
Skies will be cloudy during the first part of Friday which are expected to clear out in the afternoon. Temperatures will be in the upper 40s.
“The weekend looks better,” Lauria said. “There might be a few light showers early Sunday morning, and then next week, it’s back to springtime with temperatures just about every day at or above 70 degrees.”
