After icy Friday, sunny and springlike weather returns to Kansas City

After a cold and icy start to the weekend, temperatures are expected to quickly warm back up in the Kansas City area.

A freeze warning was in effect early Saturday morning, according to the National Weather Service. But the sun will come out and temperatures will warm up throughout the day peaking at around 50 degrees, said FOX4 meteorologist Alex Countee in a weather update for The Star.

After Saturday, Countee said, “we’ll quickly be seeing the springlike weather return.”

He expects high temperatures in the mid 60s on Sunday and in the 70s on Monday.

By Tuesday, Countee said, the high temperature in the Kansas City area could hit 80 degrees.

“You’ll definitely want to get outside and enjoy some springlike weather,” he said.

There are slight chances of rain on Monday and Friday, Countee said. But the week should largely stay dry as temperatures dip back into the 50s on Thursday and Friday.
