Expect cold rain most of the day in Kansas City as temperatures drop near freezing

Kansas City should expect a cold rain and freezing temperatures for most of Friday, according to FOX4 meteorologist Garry Frank.

As a cold front moved into the region, temperatures dropped into the 30s but feel much colder, said Frank, who provides weather updates to The Star.

“It still feels like it’s in the teens, that’s what I would worry about more than anything as we continue to see that push through the region,” Frank said.

The Star produced this weather update in partnership with the local FOX4 television station. The station’s meteorologists create forecast videos multiple times a day for the newspaper to include in its weather reports.

Some areas could also see sleet, he said.

Light freezing rain is possible across parts of northwest Missouri until about 1 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. A winter weather advisory is in effect until then.

“But it’s just going to be cold rain all day long,” Frank said.

Temperatures on Friday could reach up to 38 degrees, according to the weather service, before dropping just below freezing again overnight.

On Saturday, temperatures should climb to 54 degrees and then continue to climb on Sunday into the 60s, according to the weather service. By early next week, temperatures warm back up into the 70s, Frank said.
