Showers, thunderstorms roll through south Kansas City; storms likely for the weekend
Showers and thunderstorms will roll through the southern part of the Kansas City area Wednesday morning, according to FOX4 meteorologist Alex Countee.
“We are seeing some showers and some rumbles of thunder south of I-70,” said Countee, who provides weather updates to The Star. “That is going to be rolling on through mainly through the morning hours.”
Heavier rains are expected south and east of the immediate Kansas City metro area, near Harrisonville, Butler, Clinton and Warrensburg.

The Star produced this weather update in partnership with the local FOX4 television station. The station’s meteorologists create forecast videos multiple times a day for the newspaper to include in its weather reports.
Some drizzle could extend into the afternoon in the metro. Cloudy skies will persist for the rest of the day with cooler temperatures expected. Highs will likely reach only into the lower 50s, he said.
Skies will clear overnight setting up Wednesday for more sunshine and highs near 70 degrees. Highs will be in the lower 60s on Thursday and Friday.
“We have to start talking about more rain chances though as we head into the early portions of the new weekend,” he said.
