Rain, thunderstorms in KC’s Thursday forecast. Severe weather possible later in the day
Rain and thunderstorms are expected to move into the Kansas City area in the early-morning hours Thursday, according to FOX4 meteorologist Joe Lauria.
The first round of storms will be coming in from the southwest just before daybreak.
After that, Lauria said the rest of the day Thursday “should be dry.” The wind will start to pick up in the afternoon with warmer air. The high temperature is expected to reach 75.
There is another chance for scattered showers and storms Thursday afternoon or early Thursday evening. The second round of storms could include wind over 60 mph. The threat level for hail, flooding and tornadoes appears to be low, Lauria said.
“We’ll need to watch those storms because maybe one or two of those storms could produce some gusty winds,” Lauria said.
Then, a cold front will cause temperatures to drop significantly in the area from late Thursday into early Friday. Friday’s temperatures will be close to 40.
