Kansas City weekend forecast: Sunshine and temperatures in the 60s, then rain later

The temperatures early Saturday morning will start out in the mid 30s in the Kansas City area, but by the afternoon hours, it’s expected to warm up significantly with a high of 65, according to FOX4 meteorologist Joe Lauria.

Lauria says the area may also experience some gusty winds close to 40 mph Saturday.

Due to the wind and low humidity expected in the afternoon, the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill is warning of an elevated chance of fires quickly becoming out of control. A “fire weather watch” will be in effect from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday. Outdoor burning is discouraged during this time.

Sunday’s forecast calls for more sunshine and with temperatures close to 70. Rain is likely late Sunday night into Monday morning. The area may see about a half an inch of rain.
