Bundle up, snow may fall during the Chiefs parade Wednesday in Kansas City

As thousands of fans converge in Kansas City for Wednesday’s Chiefs parade, the weather won’t be very cooperative.

Temperatures started dropping off Monday evening, said FOX4 meteorologist Joe Lauria, who provided a weather update to The Star.

Tuesday will be between 25 and 30 degrees.

“As we head through the day tomorrow we’ll probably see some very light freezing mist or freezing drizzle develop as we head towards lunchtime,” Lauria said. “And then gradually, in the afternoon, some light snow should start to develop and this may very well affect the evening rush hour.”

There will be a short lull in the winter weather before another chance starts to develop Wednesday.

“It’s something worth watching because during the parade, it may actually be snowing for awhile,” Lauria said.

Tuesday and Wednesday’s total snow could measure 1.5 to 2 inches.

The high Wednesday will be in the mid-to-upper 20s. The air during Wednesday’s parade will feel 55 degrees colder than 2015’s Royals World Series parade.

“I’m not expecting sunshine,” Lauria said. “Folks will be standing on snow so that’s going to chill the body even more.”
