Weather forecast for the days ahead of next Chiefs playoff game call for cold, rain

Kansas City can expect temperatures in the 30s and 40s for much of the week, until a storm system this weekend brings rain and colder temperatures, according to FOX4 meteorologist Michelle Bogowith.

The weather will be mostly dry until Friday, when the area may see some rain and wintry mix as temperatures fall from the high 40s to the below 20, said Bogowith, who provides weather updates to The Star.

The weather will remain colder into the weekend, when the Kansas City Chiefs play their next NFL playoff game against the Tennessee Titans at Arrowhead Stadium.

The work week started off with milder weather. On Monday morning, a fog that covered the area mostly burned off by late morning, and temperatures were expected to reach 45 degrees. On Tuesday, another fog was expected in the morning, with similar temperatures.

A weather system may move through the area quickly on Wednesday, Bogowith said.

“That goes zipping through,” she said. “We could have a few rain showers, mostly for folks on the Missouri side.”

How we did this story

The Star produced this weather update in partnership with the local FOX4 television station. The station’s meteorologists create forecast videos multiple times a day for the newspaper to include in its weather reports.

The weather will change Friday night, when a bigger storm system moves though. Rain that night may transition to a winter mix as temperatures fall from about 49 to 19 degrees.

The forecast calls for dry conditions for the rest of the weekend, with a high temperature of 27 degrees Saturday and a high of 30 Sunday.
