Areas northeast of KC may see snow overnight, warmer temps expected later this weekend

The weekend forecast is calling for sunny skies and temperatures possibly reaching 50 on Sunday, according to FOX4 meteorologist Joe Lauria in an update to The Star.

Before the warm up, chilly weather conditions are expected overnight, from Friday night into early Saturday, due to a storm system moving down from Iowa. Areas northeast of Kansas City may see some snowflakes.

“I cannot rule out maybe some snow flurries, maybe a few snow showers, especially north and east of Kansas City, and it could actually kind of coat the ground just a little bit, especially from Lamoni south to near Carrollton and over toward Chillicothe, so just a heads up about that, ” Lauria said.

In the Kansas City area, temperatures will start out in the 20s on Saturday morning but will warm up, reaching the 40s by the afternoon hours.

Warmer temperatures are expected Sunday afternoon, reaching a high of 50.
