Rainy weekend ahead in the KC area, forecast says. Here’s how much we could get.

Areas around Kansas City may see between half an inch to close to an inch and a half of rain as a storm system moves through this weekend, according to FOX4 meteorologist Joe Lauria.

The rain is expected to start late Friday night and continue into Saturday. The rain could be heavy at times on Saturday, and there may be some thunder in the area, Lauria added.

“That’s all because of a storm system that’s going to move up toward Iowa, and then attached to that storm is a cold front,” Lauria said.

“That comes through around midnight early Sunday morning, sweeps the warm air away, brings in colder, more blustery conditions, maybe even a renegade snowflake on Sunday. Not expecting accumulations of snow; I am expecting accumulations of the rain.”

Saturday’s forecast calls for temperatures in the upper 50s. By Sunday, temperature are supposed to fall to the mid 30s.
