Rain, and maybe snow, are in the forecast for Kansas City this weekend

After two days of relatively warm temperatures, the weather forecast calls for rain and possible light snow this weekend in the Kansas City area, according to FOX4 meteorologist Michelle Bogowith.

Kansas City is expected to see a high temperature of 45 Thursday, with a low of 26, said Bogowith, who provides weather updates to The Star. Friday will see a high temperature of 44 and a low of 40.

“That is still above average for this time of year,” Bogowith said. Temperatures will get higher again when a warm front moves through Saturday.

“That increase chances for rain,” Bogowith said. “Widespread, heavy downpours of rain.”

About 1-2 inches of rain is expected in the Kansas City area Friday night and Saturday.

How we did this story

The Star produced this weather update in partnership with the local FOX4 television station. The station’s meteorologists create forecast videos multiple times a day for the newspaper to include in its weather reports.

On Sunday, a cold front is forecast to move through the region, dropping the high temperature to 38 degrees and bringing the possibility of light snow.

Temperatures are expected to rebound next week, warming up to the high 40s by Wednesday.
