‘Additional headaches’ on the roads as more snow heads Kansas City’s way
Drivers should prepare for additional headaches on the roads as more snow will likely fall in the Kansas City area Monday, according to FOX4 meteorologist Karli Ritter.
“We may have some flurries this morning, but our better chances for snow will arrive mid-day and through the early afternoon,” said Ritter, who provides weather updates to The Star. “Snow chances will start to go up as the afternoon unfolds, giving us a chance for a little bit more of minor accumulations — nothing like we saw yesterday.”
Parts of the Kansas City area saw as much as 8 inches of snow, causing schools to cancel classes for Monday.
Monday’s snow will be heavier along and south of Interstate 70, with the south side of Kansas City and points to the south seeing greater snowfall totals.
“Additional accumulations will create additional headaches on the roads,” Ritter said.
BEHIND THE STORY
MOREHow we did this story
The Star produced this weather update in partnership with the local FOX4 television station. The station’s meteorologists create forecast videos multiple times a day for the newspaper to include in its weather reports.
The northern parts of the metro will likely see between a dusting to an inch of additional snow. Meanwhile, snowfall totals will trend higher on the south side of the metro and locations to the south with 1 to 3 inches of snow possible, she said.
“With fresh snow pack on the ground and we clear out tonight, it’s going to get cold,” Ritter said. “We will drop down to 10 degrees before we gradually warm things up heading into the end of the week.”
