Sunday forecast for the Kansas City area: ‘Expect a couple of inches of snow’

The Kansas City area will likely see a winter storm late into the weekend that could drop between 2 to 5 inches of snow, according to FOX4 meteorologist Garry Frank in a weather update to The Star.

On Sunday afternoon, Frank said he expects “some pretty heavy snow” with a light mix of frozen precipitation farther south. Where exactly that heavy line of snow develops is still in question for now.

Sunday night into Monday morning is when travel may be “the most difficult” as the snow continues and the temperatures drop, Frank added.

As far as how much snow the Kansas City area may see, Frank said it could be between 2 to 5 inches.

The totals are expected to be lighter south of Interstate 70.

“Do expect a couple of inches of snow and you may have to do some shoveling,” Frank said. “We’ll keep you posted on any updates to that snowfall forecast map.”
