Another nice day ahead Sunday in KC before cold air moves in early next week

Sunday is expected to be another nice day in the Kansas City area before cold air makes its way from Canada into our region, according to FOX4 meteorologist Karli Ritter.

The forecast calls for cloudy skies and temperatures between 50 and 55 on Sunday, but temperatures will drop below average early next week.

“The reality is that we have some really cold air up in Canada that’s going to be unleashed and moving down toward us in the course of the next 48 hours,” Ritter said.

The cold air will be funneling in from the north Monday afternoon, Ritter said. By the time Kansas Citians wake up Tuesday, temperatures are expected to be in the teens or low 20s, only reaching the low to mid 30s in the afternoon. Below-average temperatures will continue into Wednesday.

Then, temperatures are expected to go back up into the 40s Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
