Warmer weather on the way after chilly, windy Sunday in Kansas City

After a Sunday of cloudy, chilly weather with a chance of precipitation, the Kansas City area will see more mild temperatures at the beginning of the work week, according to FOX4 meteorologist Garry Frank.

“It’s going to warm up by the middle of the week, and actually we’re going to start off December very nicely,” said Frank, who provides weather updates to The Star.

The high temperature Sunday was forecast at 36 degrees with the possibility of snow showers and flurries.

On Monday, skies are expected to clear and temperatures may rise to 41 degrees before reaching 54 on Tuesday. Low temperatures may still dip below freezing at night.

Although warmer temperatures are expected later in the day Monday, the morning may start with cold wind chills below 20 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill.

Winds on Sunday reached 46 mph at Kansas City International Airport and even higher elsewhere, hitting 51 mph in Lawrence. The winds are expected to calm down Monday.
