Man found fatally shot in the back in rural Missouri

GREENVILLE, Mo. – Authorities in southeast Missouri are searching for a potentially dangerous suspect after a fatal shooting.

The Daily Journal newspaper in Park Hills, Missouri, reports that Wayne County deputies were called to what they thought was an ATV accident Sunday morning.

Instead, they found that 57-year-old John Michael Fowler of St. Peters had been fatally shot in the back.

Police are searching for a 47-year-old suspect. Witnesses told deputies that the suspect told them that he had killed Fowler, with whom he had an ongoing dispute.

Greenville is about 120 miles south of St. Louis.
