Missouri man arrives home to find 7-year-old daughter dead

VILLA RIDGE, Mo. – Authorities in Franklin County are investigating the death of a 7-year-old girl.

Franklin County Sheriff Gary Toelke says a man arrived home from work early Wednesday and found his daughter dead in a bedroom and his wife incoherent on the floor. Toelke did not say how the girl died, but says homicide is suspected.

The house is near Villa Ridge, about 45 miles southwest of St. Louis.

The mother was taken to a hospital, but had no outward signs of trauma. Toelke says the child’s father is not a suspect.
