Missouri deputy’s wife to stand trial for attempted murder
NEOSHO, Mo. – A judge has found sufficient evidence for the wife of a southwest Missouri deputy to stand trial on charges that she shot her husband in the head.
The Joplin Globe reports that Patricia M. Halverson, 42, was bound over for trial Monday on charges of first-degree attempted murder and armed criminal action.
She is accused of shooting her husband, 69-year-old Al Halverson, while he was asleep in a chair in December at the couple home near Anderson in McDonald County.
The case was moved to Newton County on a change of venue.
Court records say she reported that her husband shot himself.
But medical personnel told authorities that the wound didn’t appear to be self-inflicted. Al Halverson told the court he didn’t shoot himself.
