Sheryl Crow donates $21,600 to Kennett, Missouri, teachers

KENNETT, Mo. – Musician Sheryl Crow has surprised teachers at her former southeast Missouri high school with a $21,600 donation.

The nine-time Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter is “adopting” all the teachers at Kennett High School through AdoptAClassroom.org with a $600 donation each for classroom supplies.

The Southeast Missourian reports that she made the announcement during an all-school assembly featured on the “Today” show’s “Show Heart Today” series Monday.

Farmers Insurance provided the financial backing as part of its Thank America’s Teachers program.

Crow once was a teacher in St. Louis.

She says she knows firsthand the work involved as well as the effect teachers have on “the lives and futures of their students.”

Kennett is about 200 miles south of St. Lous.
