Missouri man charged with stealing $100,000 from high school booster club

CHESTERFIELD, Mo. – A 63-year-old man is accused of stealing more than $100,000 from a music booster club at a suburban St. Louis high school.

KSDK-TV reports court documents allege Rice Jacobs stole at least $121,800 from the booster club at Parkway Central High School in Chesterfield while he served as treasurer from 2003 to 2014.

Rice is charged with stealing more than $25,000, a felony. The theft came to light after checks were not clearing because the booster club’s bank account had insufficient funds. Authorities say Jacobs wrote checks to himself from the account.

It was not immediately clear if Rice has an attorney.

A booster club official says the missing funds will not jeopardize the music students’ programs.
