Authorities said a two-story vacation home is sliding into the Lake of the Ozarks.

Mid-County Fire Protection District Chief Scott Frandsen has had crews at the home north of Camdenton since Monday. The Jefferson City News-Tribune reports that the house has moved about 36 inches closer to the lake since then.

Officials with Laclede Electric Cooperative in Camdenton called firefighters to the site. The electric company discovered the problem when answering a call from members of the homeowners association.

Frandsen said none of the experts he has consulted knows what is causing the problem.

Frandsen said there are booms on site to contain the debris and keep it in the cove so it doesn’t spread all over the lake. Beyond that, he said, there’s not much the fire department can do.
