SIKESTON, Mo. – A southeast Missouri man has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for driving into a crowd of his relatives at a family barbecue, killing a man and injuring five others.

The Sikeston Standard Democrat reports 27-year-old Joseph Thornton was sentenced after pleading guilty in the death of Jeremy Johnson and assaults on others.
