Missouri teacher accused of raping student
NAYLOR, Mo. – A southeast Missouri teacher is facing charges for the alleged sexual assault of a student.
KFVS-TV reports that 52-year-old John Mullins had an initial court appearance Wednesday.
He did not have a lawyer and declined to answer questions from a reporter.
Mullins teaches high school and junior high science for the Naylor School District. He is charged with first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy and two counts of sexual contact with a student. He is jailed on $100,000 bond.
A girl reported the crime on Friday. Her age was not listed in court documents.
She told authorities that she went to a supply closet and Mullins touched her inappropriately without her consent.
The court documents say an exam led investigators to determine the girl had injuries consistent with forcible rape.
Naylor is about 200 miles south of St. Louis.
