A preschool teacher is accused of sexually abusing a student in his care numerous times, Missouri police said.

Christopher Titus, 46, of St. Charles, while employed as a teacher at Here We Grow Early Childhood Center, “admitted to engaging in inappropriate behavior with a child,” according to a news release from the St. Louis County Police Department.

The child was 4 years old when the sexual abuse started, KSDK and Spectrum News reported, citing police.

An investigation was launched after the child told a loved one, and later police, about the incidents, authorities said in a news conference shared by KSDK.

Court records show that various forms of abuse occurred between Jan. 1, 2023, and Aug. 31, 2024.

Titus was arrested March 5 on two counts of statutory sodomy — deviate sexual intercourse with a person less than 12 years of age, and two counts of child molestation, according to court records.

Attorney information for Titus was not available. McClatchy News reached out March 7 to Here We Grow Early Childhood Center’s Webster Groves campus for comment but did not immediately hear back.

Here We Grow Early Childhood Center provides programs for children between the ages of 2 and 6, according to the center’s website.

Authorities said Titus worked at the center for seven years, KTVI reported. State inspection records of the facility from 2024 list Titus as a preschool teacher.

Investigators said they believe there may be additional victims.

St. Louis County police ask parents of children who attended the day care who have concerns or additional information to contact detectives at 314-615-5400.

Webster Groves is about a 12-mile drive southwest from St. Louis.
