New study says these are the 10 richest Missouri counties. How does your county compare?

The richest counties in Missouri are all near the most populated cities in the state, according to a study on wealth.

Financial tech company SmartAsset published a report showing the 10 wealthiest counties in the state using data from property values, investment income and median income. Data sources included IRS tax statistics, Zillow and the U.S. Census.

Of the 10 richest counties, five are close to St. Louis, four border Kansas City and one is near Springfield. The median income of all 10 counties was higher than the state median of $51,697, and each county’s median home value was higher than the state median of $197,325. However, not all had a higher median investment income than the state median of $31,357.

Richest counties in Missouri

The wealthiest county in Missouri is St. Charles County, according to SmartAsset. The median income in the county near St. Louis is $99,596, and the median home value is $350,660. The county’s investment income is $31,023, slightly lower than the state median.

The wealthiest county near Kansas City is Platte County, which is also the second-richest county in the state. Its median income is $92,543, median home value is $369,603 and investment income is $50,620.
